Are you ready for a super easy project?
One night watching the incomparable Joanna Gaines I saw exactly what I needed to complete my newly rearranged, repainted living room. She had added very simple long picture ledges above a couch that completely pulled the room together. Just what I needed.
I made use of my table saw and used scrap wood, but you could certainly head to your local Lowe's or Home Depot and pick up your wood. While you're there, have them cut it to desired length. The hard part is over!
1 - 1x3 (to your specific size - I needed 60")
2 - 1x2 (to the same size as the 1x3)
Cut your board to size. Sand the sides with 120 and 220 grit.
Stain or paint the boards.
Glue both sides of a one 1x2 and attach the 1x3 and other 1x2 perpendicular to it. Clamp to help hold. (SEE ABOVE PHOTO). From here, use a nail gun and attach (or you can use screws and fill the holes).
Use screws to attached to wall. Utilize the wall studs or wall anchors.
And....that's it! Super. Easy. And exactly what I needed to finish our living room
